Shopper, pochette and backpacks are the most requested items among the promotional items: the large print area allows to obtain clearly visible logos and the customer who receives the item can reuse it an infinite number of times, expanding the echo of communication to friends, colleagues, relatives. The research for new fabrics, shapes and types of printing is essential to always propose something original and trendy. Here are our tips on how to orient yourself in choosing the most popular materials, with an eye to ecology.
NATURAL FABRICS
The request for articles made with natural biodegradable and recyclable fabrics is increasing. In addition to the ecological factor, they have other advantages: they can be kept in their natural color or colored, they are resistant and can be reused for a long time. Then the possibility of printing with water-based inks allows you to create an accessory that truly loves nature. By playing with the measurements and/or with the weights of the fabric, adding also some accessories, it will be possible to obtain an always original solution for each type of promotion.
Depending on their peculiarities, you can choose between different natural fabrics, here are our favorites:
Canvas: generally made of cotton fiber, but also of hemp or linen, it is a robust and ductile material, perhaps the most used for the creation of promotional shopping bags. Allows an all-over print on the entire surface. It is very beautiful even if left unfinished, so to bring out its natural color.
Jute: loose knit fabric with rough, stiff and very resistant yarn. Allows the logo to be printed in one or two colors, but not an all-over print. There is the possibility of working on the thickness of the yarn, to obtain a very rigid or softer object, depending on the needs.
Juco: textile fiber obtained from a mix of jute and cotton for greater resistance than cotton but with a less raw texture than jute. Smooth surface to the touch allows a more defined print, impossible to obtain with jute.
Bamboo: natural fiber obtained from the bamboo plant, soft to the touch and resistant. How the Canvas can be customized at will.
Cotton Canvas and Jute / Cotton Canvas and Cork: mix of natural materials, usually cork and jute are used at the base of the shopper or backpack to give resistance to the object.
RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE FABRICS
Then there are items made entirely of recycled plastic. Those that until recently were small bottles of mineral water can be transformed into something new that, in a virtually infinite re-virtuous cycle, can become beautiful shoppers or backpacks, among many opportunities. This is recycled PET, commonly called RPET (recycled PET). Shoppers in RPET, for example, can be of different types and adapt to many requests, depending on the type of printing to be done and the structure we want, if we prefer a soft or rigid bag.
We can therefore choose between:
- Non-woven and non-laminated RPET: similar to the non-woven material, it allows a full color print with a matte yield and is soft to the touch. The bag built with this type of RPET will have a non-rigid structure.
- RPET fabric with matt or glossy lamination: allows any type of high quality printing. The bag you get will have a rigid structure.
- RPET Polyester: has the same consistency as normal PET polyester but recycled PET is used. The structure of the bag remains inconsistent in this case and lends itself to being folded into a pocket.
The other material used since years but still taken in great consideration is the non-woven one. The non-woven material is recycled and recyclable like the RPET (both are obtained from the Polypropylene through a thermoplastic pressing process) and like this, it can be subjected to a glossy or matte "plasticization" process, to obtain a more elegant product and with brighter colors.
Both fabrics are washable, economical and have a remarkable resistance to weight, making their use ideal in the production of shopping bags.
